Fantastic news from Vermillion, South Dakota, as the annual “Heroes Behind the Badges” saw a record turnout that ended up with 110 donations (up from 69 from the previous year).
This turnout came after a great idea was brought forward: a friendly competition between the Vermillion firefighters and police officers.
Ken Versteeg, executive director of Community Blood Bank said: “This year, there was a phenomenal turnout.”
The blood will be donated to the Sanford Vermillion Clinic, and according to Versteeg “This blood drive helps replenish the blood supply for Sanford Vermillion and creates a fun environment for donors. It’s a reminder from local heroes of the need for blood.”
