Alternative energies are making their inroad in the world and a small village in France is playing its role.
Tourouvre-au-Perche is a small town in Normandy 140km away from Paris and located near the natural park of Perche. The French ecology minister, Ségolène Royal, has recently inaugurated a 1 kilometer stretch of a solar-power road that will power the streetlights.
The cost of the project is of €5 million; the path consists of 2,800 square meters of solar panels with a coating that will protect the road from the 2,000 vehicles that travel on it on a daily basis.
Nice (even if it’s rather expensive).
